The eye of the jaguar is an emerald because of the name of the area where we are located, "Zona Esmeralda" or "Emerald Zone".

We chose a jaguar because it is an animal that represents courage and hard work.

Our name:

Tec: an acronym for the name of our school, "Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey.

Balam: the word for jaguar in Mayan.

Esmeralda: the place where our school is settled, Zona Esmeralda.
