The project started with a Math teacher’s proposal to the class. The first members were all interested since they had been studying programming. An enrolment sheet was passed at school, where only 9 names were written down, but by the end of the 2011 Season the team had 44 members.

During this season, Tec Balam won the Rookie All-Star Award in the Greater Toronto West Regional and went to the final in St. Louis, Missouri, where the team won the Rookie Inspiration Award.



This season’s robot was named Juanito and had a great impact on the Canadian public.



After watching the team’s official video, seeing the pictures and hearing the experiences of past members, new members immediately got involved in the exciting project. It was only a matter of seeing all the past members smiles when talking about Tec Balam, however no one said it was an easy job. All new members truly have an inner passion for science and technology, a heart ready for teamwork and a goal in mind.​
In 2012 the team went to Toronto and competed with a newly designed robot, obtaining good results as well.



This year the team was invited to compete in the Calgary Regional, hoping to get a greater result and have an even wider diffusion.
