Dean Kamen

Dean L. Kamen was born on April 5th 1951, in Long Island, New York.​


He is an inventor, entrepreneur, and tireless advocate for science and technology, his personal determination is to spread the word about technology's virtues in order to change the culture in America.



In 1989, he founded FIRST, a program for students to get people interested in science, technology, and engineering.



He holds more than 440 U.S and foreign patents for innovative medical devices. He also founded DEKA Research & Development Corporation to develop internally generated inventions.



For everything he was done, he has received many awards like the National Medal of Technology in 2000, the Lemelson-MIT Prize in 2002, and was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in May 2005. He is a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical & Biological Engineering, and member of the National Academy of Engineering since 1997.
